Grad school requires an intense amount of work and studying
to be successful. Everything from
mid-terms and finals, to oral presentations and twenty-five page papers. As a new MBA student getting back into the
swing of things has been a challenge to say the least. I have heard all the stories of coffee
binges, all-nighters, and sleeping at your kitchen table when you pass out
after studying for a final. All of these
are required to be successful in grad school, but as a student you also need to
find the balance. Most grad students,
especially in the MBA program, work full time to support themselves and their
family. This provides an added challenge
because students have to log 40-50 hours per week at work, attended to their
children, family, or even pets, and then fit in time for their schoolwork. You need to find the perfect balance between
work, school, and family. When juggling
these three tasks you need to prioritize which takes precedent at that
moment. Time management becomes one of
the most important skills to have in this situation. If you work until 5 o’clock, have class and
homework due at 6, and you need to feed your dog, how do you accomplish all of
these at once? This is finding the
balance. The good news is that it is
possible and once you find your balance, it becomes easier the more you do
it. Hang in there grad students you are half way there and spring break starts next weekend!
