Spring break represents the half way point in the semester
and it also means were half way till summer!
It is a great time for students to relax and unwind from the tests,
papers, labs, and stress they have gone through the past 8 weeks.
Some students choose to go home for break,
some choose to relax on campus to unwind, and some choose to travel to a beach
to relax. According to a survey by
Cheaptickets.com, more than 50% of students in the northeast part of the country
will travel south for spring break, and most land in Florida. Florida has 5 of the top 15 spring break destination
beaches in the world, 3 of which (Miami, Panama City, Daytona) are in the top
5.
All of this means there will be an abundant amount of students kicking loose in Florida and while it is important to have some relaxation time, it is also important to be safe. An alarming number of drinking, arrests, and reported cases of sunburn occur during spring break. So no matter what you choose to do, remember to be careful, be safe, be responsible, and make sure you apply plenty of sunscreen! Unfortunately, I will not be traveling south, instead I will be working and trying to relax at home. Maybe I can get lucky and another sunny, 70-degree day will come along so I can catch some rays like everyone else. Have a great spring break everyone!
